Residential Remodeling & Design-Build Case Studies
Explore selected residential remodeling, additions, custom homes, and design-build projects completed across Maryland and Washington, DC. Each project reflects a thoughtful process from architectural design and planning through construction and final detailing.

Custom Home Rebuild
Following a devastating residential fire, Expertiers was retained by a repeat client to design and construct a completely new residence. The approximately 1,400-square-foot home was purpose-built around the client’s needs, with stick-frame construction, scissor trusses, masonry stone walls, exterior siding, and custom ceiling treatments.
Delivered through a fully integrated design-build process encompassing architectural design, engineering, selections, documentation, and construction.

Whole-Home Renovation & Major Addition
An extensive transformation of an existing 3,850-square-foot single-family residence, including approximately 2,250 square feet of new construction. The completed home now encompasses approximately 6,100 square feet with a cohesive architectural language throughout.
Expertiers coordinated architectural, structural, interior, and finish decisions under one design-build process.

Bethesda Residence Renovation & Addition
A comprehensive rehabilitation and addition designed to improve both the architecture and everyday function of the residence. The work included a new primary bedroom suite, reconfigured basement and floor plans, a large deck and staircase, roof replacement, bay windows, cedar siding, and renewed façade detailing.
Interior character was elevated with walnut detailing, hardwood flooring, and Pella Architect Series glazing. Expertiers managed design, documentation, construction, selections, and insurance coordination.

Nicholson Street Residences
After a tree damaged two neighboring residences, Expertiers led the rehabilitation of approximately 4,000 square feet of interior and exterior space. The scope included structural and roof reconstruction, framing, brick walls, doors, stoops, concrete paving, basement stairs and railings, and extensive interior restoration.
Specialty work included Spanish clay tile replacement with synthetic Spanish tile roofing, basement remodeling, fireplace conversion to gas, primary bathrooms, and plaster and drywall restoration.

Shaw Luxury Townhome Renovation
This approximately 3,000-square-foot contemporary urban home was transformed with a semi-custom kitchen, Brazilian cherry hardwood flooring, two luxury primary suites, a renovated basement and home theater, rooftop living, and integrated whole-house audio and security.
Expertiers delivered the project through a design-build collaboration with interior designers. The finished residence was later featured in interior design and home-decor publications.

Capitol Hill Townhome — Full Interior Renovation
A complete gut renovation and reconfiguration of an approximately 2,000-square-foot townhome, carefully balancing modern function with the character of its historic setting.
The scope includes a new primary suite with private bath and walk-in closet, two additional bathrooms, a custom kitchen, fireplace renovation, architectural planning, interior detailing, building systems, finishes, documentation, and construction.

Capitol Hill Townhome Renovation & ADU Addition
A substantial townhome renovation paired with new construction in a historic Washington neighborhood. The project introduced a brick masonry ADU, an interior courtyard with an outdoor fireplace, an enlarged garage, and rooftop living and entertainment space.
Because of the historic setting, Expertiers managed an extensive DC Historic Preservation Review Board process, including design development, presentations, revisions, approvals, documentation, and construction.
From Design Intent to Built Reality
Every project is approached as a complete design-build process—aligning architecture, construction, materials, detailing, schedule, and budget around one clear vision.
